Where: In front of Senator Wyden's office in the Federal Building at 1220 SW 3rd Avenue, Portland
What: Join the PDX Peace Coalition to rally outside Senator Wyden's office with colorful 10-foot tall banners visualizing the cost of war and thousands of postcards from Oregonians calling for congress to stop funding the war. Speakers will address the astronomical costs of the Iraq war and where our tax dollars would be better spent.
Withdrawal Wednesdays
Congress has the power to stop the war in Iraq but they are not doing it. Congress will vote yes or no within the next two months on funding the war for another year. Now is the time to tell them "No more dollars and no more deaths!"
Members of Oregon's Congressional Delegation have been asked to sign the Oregon Declaration of Peace in which they pledge to vote NO on any appropriations bill that would continue U.S. military operations in Iraq. None of them have as yet agreed to sign the pledge. In a recent meeting with PDX Peace members, Senator Wyden refused to pledge to vote against additional funding of the Iraq war.
The PDX Peace coalition is organizing a series of "Withdrawal Wednesdays" in front of our Senators and Representatives offices to demand that they stop funding the war. The first Withdrawal Wednesday will be Noon on Wednesday, August 29 in front of Senator Wyden's office in the Federal Building at 1220 SW 3rd Avenue in Portland. Bring your peace signs, wear your peace T-shirts.
We need volunteers for this event to help passers by call and write postcards and to hold signs and banners. Email volunteer@pdxpeace.org if you can help with this action!

Can't make it to Withdrawal Wednesday? Then call Wyden's office on Wednesday, August 29 and ask him to pledge to stop funding the war. And while you are at it, ask your family, friends and co-workers to call too!
